LLC vs Sole Proprietor

Asked by Jessica

I am starting a health coaching business where I will offer 1:1 coaching, workshops, and online ebooks or VIP blog posts. I opened a one person LLC in FL because I thought this was the only way to secure my business name and have liability protection. If I operated as a sole proprietor and registered a DBA with Sunbiz does that keep anyone else from using that name for an LLC or corporation? I read that it does not. Can you help guide me on what legal entity may be best?
